Course Surveys

Surveys in the ANGEL LMS provide for a very powerful assessment tool and can help an instructor, and an institution, improve instruction in a variety of ways:

• Pre-course tool – assess students' knowledge of topics to assist in instructional design decisions or to facilitate differentiated instruction. By understanding students’ abilities, interests, knowledge, and expectations, an instructor can bypass material they do not need or delay material they are not ready to tackle.
• Post-course tool – evaluate student progress, solicit feedback on instructional style, and assess individual instructor performance.
• Peer evaluation – review team dynamics, focus attention on groups with more needs, and determine which groups are ready for more advanced topics.
• Opinions and attitudes – measure interest in topics and activities and formulate instruction that best meets learners’ interest.
• Trend analysis – analyze student behanior over time to create create superior instruction.

Surveys as Assessments

ANGEL LMS surveys are closely aligned with the overall capabilities of assessments. Functionality available with surveys includes::

• Survey questions banks – create and reuse survey questions for individual courses or repositories. Search and browse options make adding stored questions to surveys easy.
• Likert scale questions – use Likert scale questions one at a time or create a grid of questions that all share the same scale.
• Survey analysis – completed survey submissions are stored for automated, detailed item analysis reporting. The standard survey report includes mean, standard deviation, standard error, confidence interval, and response distribution.
• Centralized surveys – surveys deployed from the learning object repository aggregate all responses for item analysis, making them useful for semester ending instructor and course evaluations.
• Security – safeguards for anonymous survey data collection are built into surveys.
• Export data – survey data can be printed or exported for further analysis and/or storage.
