ANGEL Powers 21st Century Learning in Collier County Public Schools

For Immediate Release - March 19, 2009

Indianapolis, Ind. – March 19, 2009 – ANGEL® Learning, a leading provider of enterprise eLearning software and services, today published a case study highlighting the ways the ANGEL Learning Management Suite (LMS) is positively impacting teaching and learning in Florida’s  Collier County Public Schools (CCPS). The ANGEL LMS is allowing CCPS to move from paper and pencil to a 21st century electronic format. By putting lessons, class notes, and other class materials online in ANGEL, teachers provide students anytime, anyplace access to class resources and save funds previously spent on paper and printing.

“Students learn differently today. They are more engaged when content is on the computer. ANGEL provides the immediate access to information that engages students in learning,” said Randi Zwicker, director of the CCPS Instructional Technology Department. Communication capabilities in the ANGEL LMS help students learn from one another according to Amy Hance an instructional technology specialist in the district. “Learning can be more meaningful when we learn collectively,” said Hance. “The ability to share information and ideas in ANGEL can help others learn more or provide a different perspective.” The case study is available on the ANGEL Learning website: http://www.angellearning.com/community/community_profiles.html.

The District School Board of Collier County serves more than 40,000 students along Florida’s Southwest coast. Through both traditional brick and mortar and alternative schools, Collier County Public Schools strives to challenge and engage every student in rigorous and relevant curriculum that addresses individual needs. The district’s goal of producing responsible citizens who realize success in their chosen educational and vocational pursuits leads CCPS to continually search for new educational opportunities and solutions.

Public, private, and virtual K-12 schools and districts across the US and Canada use the ANGEL LMS to extend the curriculum and enrich teaching and learning. For students, the 24/7 access to course materials, grades, and communication and collaboration capabilities ANGEL enables promotes engagement and ownership of learning. Teachers use the ANGEL LMS to manage the classroom, saving teachers time by performing work for them so they can focus on teaching and learning. School administrators use ANGEL to offer professional development online, build strong home-school connections, and measure learning outcomes.
