MSD of Wayne Township Addresses Educational Challenges with ANGEL
For Immediate Release - Feb. 10, 2009
Indianapolis, Ind. – February 10, 2009 – ANGEL® Learning, a leading provider of enterprise eLearning software and services, today published a case study highlighting the ways the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township in Indianapolis, Indiana implements the ANGEL Learning Management Suite (LMS) to address multiple educational challenges. A pioneer in using technology to impact education, the MSD of Wayne Township first implemented the ANGEL LMS in 2002. Today the district uses the ANGEL LMS from pre-school to high school to enrich teaching and learning, manage the classroom, and conserve tight educational funds. The case study is available on the ANGEL Learning website: http://www.angellearning.com/community/community_profiles.html.
A proactive stance on student retention initially led the MSD of Wayne Township to license the ANGEL LMS. Paul Kreitl the district’s director of technology calls the virtual credit recovery programs supported by the ANGEL LMS and offered through the Wayne Enrichment Center “a wonderful alternative for students.” As use of the ANGEL LMS has extended to the traditional classroom teachers have begun to use ANGEL to impact traditional instruction. “Using ANGEL to handle homework, grading, and other classroom management tasks allows teachers to focus on teaching,” says Libby Lawrie, technology integration specialist, MSD Wayne Township.
The MSD of Wayne Township serves an urban and suburban population of nearly 15,000 students in a pre-school learning center, eleven elementary schools, two middle schools, Ben Davis High School, Ben Davis University School, and two alternative schools. District faculty and staff partner with students, parents, and the community to ensure all students gain and apply knowledge, skills, processes, and values to become life-long learners and contributors to society.
Public, private, and virtual K-12 schools and districts across the US and Canada use the ANGEL LMS to extend the curriculum and enrich teaching and learning. For students, the 24/7 access to course materials, grades, and communication and collaboration capabilities ANGEL enables promotes engagement and ownership of learning. Teachers use the ANGEL LMS to manage the classroom. ANGEL saves teachers time by performing work for them, so they can focus on teaching and learning. School administrators use ANGEL to offer professional development online, build strong home-school connections, and measure learning outcomes.
