Online Learning Is Growing at Central Ohio Technical College

For Immediate Release - Aug. 5, 2008

Indianapolis, Ind. – Aug. 5, 2008 – ANGEL® Learning, recognized innovator of enterprise course management software and services, today announced that Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) has adopted the ANGEL Learning Management Suite (LMS), which it will implement within the next year to deliver its growing list of online classes (currently at sixty) and to enrich face-to-face courses with internet-based capabilities and web 2.0 tools.

As online classes and using the internet to enrich traditional teaching and learning become the standard, COTC is staying ahead of the curve. The college has been using a course management system for online learning the last five years. The switch to the ANGEL LMS will help the college move forward with additional online offerings and add more online capabilities to its traditional classes.

In the Winter Quarter 2009, the classes in COTC’s thirty-one associate degree and certificate programs will use ANGEL in some way. “ANGEL will provide students a consistent place to go for class and school materials,” said Corri Edwards, instructional designer at COTC. “The course syllabus, student grades, student’s end-of-quarter assessments of their classes will all be online in ANGEL.” Students will also have the opportunity to use web 2.0 wikis and blogs and many other online tools in their COTC classes as their instructors choose to implement them.

“Central Ohio Technical College is addressing the challenge of making education available to all with positive action,” said Christopher Clapp, president and CEO, ANGEL Learning.  “We commend COTC for their dedication to continuous improvement and are pleased to welcome the college to the quickly growing ANGEL community.”
