History and Milestones

A recognized innovator, ANGEL Learning is credited with many learning management system firsts and recognition for both its products and services.

2000

Cyber Learning Labs, Inc. was founded as an outcome of research and teaching experience at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. The company will later change its name to ANGEL Learning, Inc.

2001

The ANGEL LMS introduces "Agents – tools that automate" to LMS technology.

Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, Kentucky licenses the ANGEL LMS to serve its almost 100,000 K12 students in virtual and traditional classes.

Penn State University, a top 10 largest US university, licenses the ANGEL LMS.

2002

The ANGEL LMS breaks new ground with the first integrated learning object repositories, enabling content reuse and sharing.

The first customer outside of the United States, Colegio de Estudios Superiores de Administracion in Columbia, adopts the ANGEL LMS.

2003

The ANGEL LMS innovations impact all aspects of the educational enterprise. Milestone features focus on learner success and retention. New task orientation increases instructor efficiency. Learning object repository access crosses school and campus boundaries. Decentralized system adminstration allows customization and branding for diverse audiences.

Michigan State University, a top 10 largest US university, switches to the ANGEL LMS.

The ANGEL LMS achieves SCORM 1.2 compliance.

Penn State hosts the first ANGEL User Conference.

2004

The ANGEL LMS content templates set new standards in creating pedagogically sound e-learning content.

St. Petersburg College adopts the ANGEL LMS to serve its more than 60,000 students.

2005

The introduction of ANGEL ePortfolio originates LMS-electronic portfolio integration and the concept of “certified artifacts.”

1 million students and faculty around the globe use the ANGEL LMS.

Elsevier selects the ANGEL LMS as the technology platform for its Evolve Learning System.

ANGEL Learning wins Parature's Customer Centric Award in recognition of ANGEL customers' high satisfaction rating.

2006

The ANGEL LMS automates the analysis of the extensive data stored in the LMS and presents the data graphically immediatetly upon login. Exclusive ANGEL LMS technology makes the data actionable.

Miami Dade College, the largest college in the United States, licenses the ANGEL LMS.

Bedford, Freeman & Worth selects the ANGEL LMS as the technology platform to deliver electronic media services.

The ANGEL LMS wins the Software Information Industry Association (SIIA) CODiE Award for Best Postsecondary Course or Content Management Solution.

ANGEL Learning awards its first ANGEL IMPACT Awards to recognize exemplary ANGEL LMS program and courses.

2007

The ANGEL LMS debuts with native support for learning outcomes management and support for the IMS Global Learning Consortium's Common Cartridge format, the first commercial LMS to do so.

The State University of New York (SUNY) signs a master agreement to make the ANGEL LMS and ANGEL ePortfolio available statewide to its 64 campuses.

The ANGEL LMS wins the Software Information Industry Association (SIIA) CODiE Award for Best Postsecondary Course or Content Management Solution for the second year in a row.

ANGEL Learning wins the Learn-Sat Award and is ranked number one in customer satisfaction among educators who use learning technology in independent IMS GLS research.

The launch of ANGEL Learning Isle in Second Life provides educators a forum for experimenting with virtual learning.

The ANGEL LMS achieves SCORM 2004 certification.

2008

Due to rapid and continuous growth, ANGEL Learning moves to new corporate headquarters.

The ANGEL LMS is named a finalist for the Software Information Industry Association (SIIA) CODiE Award for Best Postsecondary Course or Content Management Solution for the third year in a row.

Readers of District Administration select the ANGEL LMS as one of the top 100 K12 products for 2007-08 from among thousands of entries.

ANGEL Learning is named number 2 on Indiana's Best Places to Work list.

ANGEL Learning receives the first annual Parature Legend Makers Award for excellence in customer service and support.

ANGEL Learning is named a finalist for the 2008 Information Technology Mira Award presented by TechPoint, recognizing the company's contributions to Indiana's technology-based economy.

The ANGEL LMS releases feature and pedagogically-rich discusssion forums, an exclusive Agent Framework for enterprise integration, and algorithmic questions with exclusive capabilities to its assessments.

ANGEL Learning is named a finalist for an Indiana Companies to Watch Award, recognizing the company's performance in the marketplace.

ANGEL ePortfolio advances program assessment capabilities through tighter integration with the ANGEL LMS and the ability to lock student work.

Both the Georgia Virtual Technical College and the Washington State Board of Community and Technical colleges select the ANGEL LMS as their platform of choice. Each serves 34 schools.
