Description

As part of faculty development, the Teaching & Learning Technologies department at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) developed a course about Teaching & Learning Online. Unlike similar courses emphasizing technology training, this course focused on the application of theory, research, and best practices. By participating as students in this course, faculty also experienced an online course from the student perspective. As KUMC faculty became more experienced in online instruction and class sizes decreased, KUMC opened the class up to other schools which use ANGEL in the fall of last year. They posted an open invitation on the ANGEL LISTSERV and ultimately delivered the class to faculty from 14 other colleges and universities. The diversity of people and ideas resulted in an engaging experience for all, and KUMC plans to offer the class again next fall.
